Bomber at share. Near black pour, thin beige ring of head. Aroma is roasty, chocolaty, light apple notes. Taste is chocolate, apple brandy, whiskey. Smooth and velvety. Sublime.

This one pours a fairly dark black color, with a small head, and not much lacing.
This smells like sticky toffee, milk chocolate, caramel apples, rye spice, roasted malt, and coffee.
The interplay of the barrels here is pretty nice, with the apple brandy giving a creamy, slicky, and fruity sweetness, and the rye barrels giving a spicy and hearty bitterness to the sweet chocolatey base beer. There’s some nuttiness and toffee, and a nice roastiness.
This is creamy, medium bodied, with not much booziness. It’s quite drinkable.
Modern Times continues to be one of, if not my absolute, favorite breweries for stouts in the country.

Sludgy, crude-oily brew. Oaky, toasty nose with suggestions of anise and citrus fruit. Lots of vanilla on the palate - marshmallow-y - with undertones of pit fruit and cocoa. Long sweet finish with lingering residuals. Alcohol is well masked for added drinkability.
