This masterful convergence of styles began as a high-gravity doppelbock, which was then aged in a combination of 9 and 13 year old bourbon barrels. We kicked the decadence up about 20 notches by adding 100lbs of house-roasted pecan pieces, 14lbs of Mexican vanilla, 1lb of cinnamon sticks, and 20lbs of brown sugar, making for a wonderfully malty beverage that might be the key to the world’s best pie filling.

Bomber at share. Inky black pour, flat. Sweet, nutty aroma. Taste is chocolate syrup, sweet (very), nutty, brown sugar, sticky. Dryness in the mouth at finish.

I’ll level with you. This is one of the best dessert beers I’ve had the pleasure of drinking. I don’t know what it is about stouts that can sometimes have that soy sauce/vinegar taste, but this is completely void of that. I guess potentially because it’s brewed differently to the style which pertains to it…anywho….
Pours a beautiful caramel with 2 fingers of mocha foam reducing to a decent ring, plenty of soapy lacing. Nose is pecans, vanilla, burnt brown sugar and very light cinnamon. Basically a pecan pie. The thing is here is that each of the flavors burst without ever becoming muddled or blurry and you can identify each one through the sip, starting with the vanilla and finishing with a very subtle alcohol burn. Very good beer.

22 oz bomber to tulip
Dark brown brew, viscous for the style, no head
Massive vanilla and pecan in the nose, smells like pie crust after scraping filling away.
A decadent dessert beer to be sure, but the inherent notes of banana and clove in dopplebocks is still detectable, as I was certain the avalanche of pecan pie ingredients would overtake. Otherwise, this is liquified pecan pie. Pairing with an apple crumble…

Vanilla, brown sugar, caramel, and malt on the nose. The palate has a great balance of barrel heat, pastry richness, and nutty bitterness on a powerful finish. The mouthfeel is good, and there’s a nice cinnamon component as it warms. Surprising hit!
