650 mL bottle. Black body. Smells of bourbon and chocolate. Tastes of tingly bourbon, lots of chocolate, roasted malts. I get a little bit of saltiness in the back end. Heavy, sweet, boozy, but just about drinkable. Good, but Modern Times does better dessert stouts.

Appearance - The beer had the appearance of used motor oil.

Smell - Fudge came through in the nose. It was almost like cake batter.

Taste - Holy cow! The taste was very fudge forward. It had some qualities of a brownie. The salt was a nice touch as well. The alcohol bite at the finish took away from the overall taste. It wasn’t quite dessert with the burner. The chocolate continued into the finish.

Mouthfeel - There was a fluffy, silkiness to this smooth stout.

Overall - Though I had some disappointment, this was a great beer.

This one pours a very dark black color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

This smells like milk chocolate, oaky spice, salted caramel, coffee, and vanilla.

This is definitely a bit sweeter than Modern Times usually goes with, but it’s still tasty. It’s quite decadent, with mostly fudgy milk chocolate, with just a touch of saltiness that comes across more like chocolate covered salted caramel rather than pretzels. There’s some vanilla and oak from the barrel as well. It reminds me a little bit of a very sweet coffee drink.

This is medium bodied, super creamy and rich, with very little booziness.

I tend to like Modern Times’ more balanced beers a little bit more, but this is still a nice little treat.

A 750ML bottle of MT stout in MN! The gods smile upon us in 2022. Minus, y’know, the wars & viruses & tearing at the fabric of American society. Other than that, smiles!

Black. Fudge & bourbon on the nose, with the first ever nasal sighting of pretzels. Huh.

Soft Swerve – Fudgy Brownie Pretzel brings the cocoa howitzer. Big chocolate notes run rampant through the start, mid-palate, & finish of the beer. I like chocolate. OK, I’m an addict. Gentle saltiness & spiciness runs headlong into a wall of bourbon as the beer warms; it isn’t evident at all cold. The finish is a long slide of sweet vanilla & the chocolate (did I mention that?). Dry. I should have drunk the bomber by myself. Die tomorrow.

One of the rare MT stouts that isn’t worth the high price of admission but a very good brew.

L: A dark black-brown color.
S: Light milk chocolate fudge.
T: Like it's sister it is true to it's name. A very chewy, light milky chocolate with it melting into goo in the body and a sweet hard crust finish.
F: A fudgy brownie>
O: A strong smooth velvet brownie. Sadly no pretzel flavor.

Dark black body, oily legs. Rich chocolate fudge, marshmallow and a touch of saltiness which is welcome and balances the sweetness out. A bit of oak and mild heat. Medium full bodied, lower carbonation, soft and surprisingly easy to drink. Not too sweet.
