An inspired blend of three of our PDX-born barrel-aged stouts, this beer is a dark, decadent vortex of roasty chocolate, toffee, and bourbon-soaked oak.

22 oz bomber

Deep brown ale, viscous with little apparent carbonation. Super oaky bouquet, notes of coffee and burnt sugar.

Flavors are anise-forward, with bourbon-y toffee notes and raisin all enveloped by a deep oaky backbone. Long bittersweet finish.

A bit of a ‘classic’ barrel-aged brew compared to a lot of MT’s more decadent dessert brews.

Thanks to the CAKid for a hefty helping of one of my favorite stout breweries. 22 oz. bottle split with my wife to open a Friday evening.

Dark, close to no head, a la Sailor Jentle Black. The nose is rich bourbon, deep vanilla, & a lot of sweet malts.

Arctic Realm gives me a straight barrel aged stout boner. No frills, no side dishes, just straight bourbon, heat, sweet maltiness that drives way too fast, vanilla, with a hint of oak & inoffensive cherry on the finish. Definitely wearing the standard Modern Times thickness along with the Modern Times “I wanna drink a poop ton of this” vibe.

Top five barrel program in the U.S. for me. And another excellent winner in my glass.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a large dark brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of floral coffee notes with some roasted malt and black chocolates with some bourbon and vanilla notes. Taste is also a great balanced mix of floral coffee notes with some bourbon and vanilla notes with some roasted malt and black chocolate with light residual sugar notes. Body is full with a nice oily texture and good carbonation with no real alcohol being perceptible. Solid world-class imperial stout.
