Big notes of chocolate, caramel, and roasty toffee are underscored by bourbon, oak, and subtle vanilla

Bomber at share. Inky black pour, thin layer of beige head. Aroma is roasty, notes of chocolate and a nice layer of bourbon. Taste continues with the dark roast, bittersweet chocolate and more bourbon. Accents of pit fruits and anise.

22 oz bomber into a snifter
Sludgy, crude-oil appearance. Oak, vanilla and marshmallow in the nose - not as much anise and molasses as other Modem Tones varieties. Marshmallow-vanilla undertones continue on the palate, with a nice dose of baker’s chocolate. Suggestions of apple and grape, along with caramelly whisky. Finishes long and sweet.
One of the more balanced barrel-aged, (pastry-ish) stouts I’ve had in awhile. Haven’t called a beer ‘balanced’ for some time, kind of a catch-all descriptor. But stouts have gone so crazy last 5 years or so, it fits.

On tap at Modern Times. Pours black with a very thin layer of head. The nose is brandy, leather, licorice, fudge, and marshmallow. Incredible. The taste follows the nose. Big boozy barrels, chocolate, vanilla, coconut, sherry, dark fruit, maple, and some candy. Incredible.
