Chaos Grid is our ongoing Barrel Aged Beer Blend that is never the same; always a new blend of different barrel-aged beer stock.

This rendition is Dragon Mask, Infinity Gauntlet, Mega Devil's Teeth, and Modem, all aged for at least 2-3 years. Yeah, some serious oak time on those. The resulting blend is a hulking Bourbon monster. Bourbon always brings a ton of caramel, brown sugar, and toffee notes, so expect those in abundance.

Appearance: Pours black with a few bubbles on the surface but no head; very leggy but no lacing

Smell: The Bourbon permeates the aroma, with caramel, brown sugar, vanilla and oak tones joining the dark chocolate

Taste: Dark chocolate with the Bourbon making an immediate impression; brown sugar, caramel and vanilla with hints of oak in the finish

Mouthfeel: Full bodied with no carbonation

Overall: This packs a lot of flavor but is a bit too sweet for my palate

22 oz bomber, into a snifter

Chaos Grid is an ever-changing blend of MT’s annual BBA releases, with extended aging in the eponymous barrels. This one is less pastry stout and more classic BBA stout than some of the previous releases. Big notes of molasses and unsweetened chocolate, oak. Suggestions of coffee and anise. A touch of caramelly bourbon sweetens at the back of the sip, and closes with a long viscous finish.

Bouquet is roasty and bourbony.

This one probably won’t be a popular as some their recent confection-brews, but I think this is exactly what the brewers were going for. Really nice sipper.
