We took this premium Imperial Stout and aged it for 33 months in Bourbon Barrels before racking it onto Okinawan Black Sugar and Dominican Cocoa Nibs. Okinawan Black Sugar is a unique type of sugar made by growing sugarcane on coral-rich soil, boiling the sugarcane juice in open air for hours in gigantic copper pots, then allowing it to cool and harden into bricks. The result is jet-black sugar with a deep, intense flavor of malt and hints of maritime salinity.

22 oz bomber into a snifter.
It feels weird reviewing a brew that’s not only retired, but the entire brewery is basically nonexistent. The Barrel Boys are contract brewing at Alesmith, so maybe they’ll release a similar concoction again, but it’s sad because this beer is absolutely INSANE. Here are the specs (largely for my own record):
Dark brown beer, viscous with no carb.
Nose is of rich oak and cigars, burnt sugar, hazelnut.
Massive caramelly aspects in the palate, some vanilla cookies and chocolate cake.
Just an absolute clinic in a pastry stout. Funny if this were made 6 or 7 years ago the bottle would be selling for 50x aftermarket value.
