Sealed Envelope- This collaboration with @weldwerksbrewing was years in the making, Finally making its delicious debut this month. Weldwerks' Medianoche and our Altar of the Orc Lord Barleywine took extended (18-month!) vacations in Bourbon barrels, resulting in a rich, roasty blended base for this beer. Then earlier this fall, we exchanged sealed envelopes with secret ingredients that each of us was challenged to use. The challenge presented to us? Banana, Coconut, and Macadamia Nut - in that order. We sourced only the best ingredients: Wild Thai Banana, both Toasted and Untoasted Coconut, and Kona Macadamia Nuts. It's pure dessert and we couldn't be more pleased.

The nose is actually a bit more subtle than I expected. Soft notes of nuts and malts. Chocolate, coconut, and maybe light banana. Not picking up much of that on the nose though.
The taste is really interesting. Banana comes through here, along with the nuts. Also getting chocolate, maple, sweet toffee pudding, molasses, vanilla, and a hint of coconut. Definitely a strong sweetness on this one. Bourbon comes through a bit, but it's not crazy strong. An interesting dryness is there. The body is crazy thick.

22 oz bomber into a snifter
This brew takes viscosity to another level. Straight-up crude oil complexion…not the tiniest carb bubble able to escape this syrup.
The nose is all toasted oak and bourbon. A hint of cocoa and vanilla…maybe some banana but not really picking up the other adjuncts.
It all comes together on the palate; but still, the extended barrel aging has turned this brew into a bourbon bomb. Plenty of unsweetened chocolate, molasses and tobacco notes to add complexity. The adjuncts come through here, but they play second fiddle to the barrels.
A perfectly divine beverage…some may feel it loses points as the adjuncts only add an accent, but the brew is just as tasty as they come. I can’t smoke where I’m reviewing this, but would pair perfectly with a cigar.
