For this year’s Wizard Blend, we went back to our roots, making a slightly smaller batch and using only the absolute BEST Bourbon and Rye Whiskey Barrels we could find.
Now, we know how you all love the barrel stats, so we’ll get right to it:
Modem Tones:
Librarian's Bourbon: 45 months
Elias Butte 18yr: 37 months
XM Schmeller: 37 months
Scrawlhome Rye: 26 months
Mega Devil’s Teeth:
DBA: 15 months in Ethereal Mound, followed by 12 months in Kupu Spirits Bourbon
Quadruple Flowers: 28 months
Beastmaster:
Quadruple Flowers: 30 months
Cloud Daggers:
Ethereal Mound: 33 months
Dragon Mask:
Bovine Outline: 37 months
Monsters’ Park:
Elias Butte Rye: 30 months
Wizard Blend 2022:
Ethereal Mound: 12 months
Whew. Writing that list was pretty indicative of the blending process, honestly. We had the barrel house completely torn apart tasting barrels that didn’t quite fit the vibe and digging more barrels out to try. It all came together in the end when the right 11 barrels clicked, resulting in silky, smooth bourbon and rich, decadent harmony. Cheers!

Poured at fridge temp. Pours a very viscous black with zero head. Looks almost still. The nose is intense bourbon, slight rye spice, vanilla, dark chocolate, and some dark toffee. The bourbon really dominates though.
The taste is intense and well balanced. Black licorice, brown sugar, molasses, bourbon, rye, chocolate, slight roasted malts, prunes, walnuts, vanilla, toffee, and a bit of sherry. Fabulous taste.
The mouthfeel is thick bodied with a boozy bourbon and sherry aftertaste. Lovely stout. Really glad I got to try this one.

Damn. No wonder this was such limited quantity. This is layers upon layers of barrel-aged decadence. The nose is of carob and molasses and oak. The flavors - tiramisu, cherry cola, caramel, oak (of course). Simply incredible.
