12oz can served in a tulip glass. Canned 12/27/18 11:13 Batch 6000021 "Major Tom?"

Appearance: Translucent/hazy gold to light amber color. Persistent off-white head with lots of persistent lacing all over the glass.

Smell: Peach, citrus, hint of lemon.

Taste: Citrus, peach, grassy, grainy malt, bitter finish.

Mouthfeel: Good carbonation, slick, a bit sticky on the teeth from the hop oils.

Overall / Drinkability: Great looking beer - but I don't think I'm a big fan of the Galaxy hop, or, this beer hasn't aged so well after 3 months. It's okay, but one is enough.

12 ounce can into pint glass, canned on 12/27/2018. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy pale golden yellow color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and rocky off white head with awesome retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big tangerine, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, berries, citrus peel/zest, mint, wood, peppercorn, pine, wheat, cracker, toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and moderate pale/wheat malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big tangerine, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, berries, citrus peel/zest, mint, wood, peppercorn, pine, wheat, cracker, toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of tangerine, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, berries, citrus peel/rind, mint, wood, peppercorn, pine, wheat, cracker, toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and moderate pale/wheat malt flavors; with an awesome malt/bitterness balance, and no lingering hop astringency after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy/sticky, fairly crisp, and lightly resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is fantastic. Minimal warming alcohol for 5.7%. Overall this is an outstanding American pale ale. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and moderate pale/wheat malt flavors; very smooth and fairly crisp/refreshing to drink with the modestly bitter/drying finish, not aggressive. Amazing Galaxy/Motueka profile. Extremely vibrant, juicy, and fairly dank/earthy hop complexity; with a great balancing pale/wheat malt backbone. Mild residual sweetness with lingering crisp/resin dryness. A highly enjoyable offering, and spot on style example. Loved the hop profile as expected.

Poured into a tall clear pint glass. Hazy pale orange color with many lifeless tiny floaters, almost looking like a galaxy itself. Head is about 2 fingers thick, good retention and lacing. Moderate carbonation.

Peaches and mandarins are upfront in the aroma. Other notes include bread malt and biscuit, bloodorange, tangerine, overall very citrusy.

Grassy hops and citrus upfront on the palette, along with prominent grapefruit. Bread and biscuit upon swallowing and lingering aftertaste. Feels somewhat smooth.

Poured a bubbly dark slightly hazy gold with a 2 finger head. Moderate lacing was present. Nose of peach, grapefruit and grass. However, midway through, I noticed a waft of funk, which really drove down my score for smell. Strong taste of grapefruit and bitter pith with pine resin lingering on the tongue. No noticeable malt. Thin dry feel with a slight slickness.

A - Pale orange body, just a hint of haze, a big white head, rocky, with lots of ropy lacing. A mighty fine looking beer.

S - Opens with a punchy harsh dank hit, moving to a pine and resin core, and a mild pithy note, too.

T - Opens with a orange and grapefruit pith hit, pine and resin, and a strongly bitter bite in the close.

M - Slightly taxing dry line, with some building resin on the tongue.

O - Solid, but a beer that fades quickly. While it is at its height this is a delicious hop forward IPA, with dank and bitter highlights.

Had on-tap in a shaker pint at a Toledo bar.
Brassy color, pretty clear, the slightest haze.
Nose is citrusy and nectarine-like. A little bit of wafting cat pee.
Flavor is orange peel bitter, gingery, perfumey - kinda weird. Not much malt makes it through.
Relatively thin body leaves a slippery numbness on the tongue.
Nice horizontal rows of lacing.
A rather odd brew.

Look: Moderately clear with soft white, pillowy looking foam
Smell: I could smell the hops from 2 feet away when I poured it. Very earthy, green, and slightly sweet smelling like peach
Taste: Slighltly bitter, mild crust flavor, citrus, and forward hops.
Feel: Creamy, smooth, mildly energetic carbonation. Not very resiny for as much hop character as there is.
Overall: Not bad and not overbearing, but this definitely shows off the Galaxy hops.

Pours golden color, very clear, with a 2 finger white head that lingered until gone and left moderate lacing. Aroma of blood orange, and tangerine. Tastes is dominated by slightly tart grapefruit. Overall very good, but seems like it wants to be an IPA but is lacking a bit of malt to balance the galaxy hops.

On-tap 2/18/2017 at Flynn’s in Mansfield, MA, served in a tapered pint glass.

A: The beer is a deep amber color, with a large off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains citrus, grassy hops and caramelized malts.

T: The taste starts out sweet with flavors of caramel and citrus. Then some breadiness comes in from a hearty malt character. The earthy and grassy hops presence provides a good balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet and slightly hoppy.

M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, decent kick, good representation of style, this is a solid beer too drink for a while.

I'm sharing a bottle with my neighbor. It poured a clear amber with thin white head that did not leave much lace. The scent was slightly sweet. The taste was nicely balanced between sweet start and bitter finish. The Mouthfeel was medium in body with smooth carbonation. Overall it's a decent beer.

Pours golden to copper in color. Smells of citrus hops and orange rinds. Flavor has a burst of citrus hops up front that are soft, not the abrasive kind a lot of these beers have these days. It finishes with an herbal, grassy, or tea-like note Medium bodied.

Rhinegeist Brewery - Andromeda. 5.7% ABV. 22oz bottle split between two snifters.

Look: Translucent burn orange body, retaining a two finger white head.

Smell: Juicy orange and peach, with some light earthy hops and fresh cut grass.

Feel: Very light and smooth body with a hint of carbonation to balance.

Taste: Some bitter hops and grass/wheat up front. Has some minor fruit sweetness behind the grass, but is drowned out by a wheaty cracker like aftertaste.

Overall: I didn't pick up nearly as much fruit on the palate compared to the aroma, with the earthiness dominating. The wheaty cracker aftertaste reminded me a lot of New Belgium Fat Tire.

Bottle into a New Belgium snifter. Hazy golden on the pour and settles a clear copper in the glass with a little bit of murkiness. 2 fingers of white foam initially that bubbled down to a lacing. Peaches, citrus, orange, mango, dried grass, and a bit of earthiness on the nose. On the taste, I get a lot of earthy fruit up front, that is, peaches, mango, citra, etc. along with an earthy twang. A little funky middleways, and turns fairly organic-tasting on the back end. Lots of grassiness in there along with a good hop presence. Moderate bitterness (48 IBUs for anyone curious). Good mouthfeel, like most, it got a bit creamier as it warmed. A little flat on the finish, but overall not bad.

With exclusive showing of the coveted Galaxy hops, Rheingeist's single-hop pale ale celebrates the tropical, orchard and citrus character of the cones upon a balancing, caramelized foundation.

Brightly of copper, the ale pours with an excited effervescence that enlivens those volatile hop oils, releasing a perfume of pink grapefruit, tangerine, nectarine, fresh grass clippings and chive. Yet its supple taste is caramelized with peps of toasted grain, pecan and graham cracker.

As the ale develops over the middle, its fruity flavors turn from floral and delicate stature and toward leaf, grass and herb. Verbena-like, its tea like presence of sassafras begins to rise as the sweetness drifts away, leaving the palate clean and decidedly bitter in balance.

Medium-bodied, the beer's dryness and effervescence allows the beer to trend as much IPA-like as it does of the tamer pale ale, but those Galaxy hops shine in their showcased manner with its fruit medley and its herbaceous bite.

Rheingeist does it again. They continually produce high quality excellent tasting brews. This one has a great nose and fine taste. I found it unique to any beer I have had in recent memory. That's hard to do in today's sometimes flooded market of options. Well done Rhinegeist.

Poured from a bottle into a New Belgium snifter. The pour is clear and bright orange with 2 fingers of solid white head that shows good retention and slowly dissolves down to a clumpy lacing. The nose has a lot of juicy citrus notes. I get oranges, pineapples, lemons, and grapefruit.

Medium-light body with a slightly thin feel and a sharp, hoppy flavor. Slight graininess up front, then grapefruit, lemons, resin, and hemp. Not very well-balanced. Acrid and sharply bitter. Resin flavors linger a bit on the finish. The Galaxy hops show their citrus notes well, but I don't get enough sweetness from the malt. I think the brewer should have just made a full-fledged IPA with ample malt to support all the hops.
