With one foot in the British Isles and the other in America's Pacific Northwest, the time honored and mild mannered brown ale gets a citrusy facelift from hops.
Rhinegeist's Boomer brown ale is well suited for fall weather as its aromas spill onto the nose with chocolate, toffee, a hint of coffee with orange peel. Medium brown in its appearance, the dark ale is capped with a tightly woven eggshell froth. Flavors of toasted malts bring about those coffee and chocolate flavors that layer over toffee and an overall nutty initial palate.
As the ale rolls across the tongue, its sweetness relaxes and a broad nutty, earthy, woodsy taste begins to tighten. Moderately bitter and trending coffee-like with peanut skins in tow, the perfumy orange aromatics turn to a mild lemon-like character with a resinous, pine-like bitterness to follow.
Malty and medium-bodied, its early marshmallow-like texture goes from creamy to malty-dry as the bitterness grows slightly and its sweetness further fades. Boomer is a mild mannered brown ale with equally mild American tendencies- perfect from grilled meats and scotch eggs.
