Poured from 22oz bottle into Chimay goblet
L - Syrupy brown pour, vague cream head, no retention
S - Bourbon, vanilla, barrel, smoke, malts, peat on the back.
T - Strong vanilla, buttery bread, butterscotch, slight smoke and pear like notes.
F - Slightly thinner than expected, pleasant creaminess on the tongue.
Lacking some of the more traditional Scotch Ale maltiness. However, it's well built for barrel aging, bringing all the right notes to the fore. A pleasant surprise which hides the alcohol behind an array of subtle flavors.
