Enjoyed from the growler via Jungle Jim's Eastgate in a snifter!
This fine stout pours a deep blackish brown with a nice head of light tan foam
that settles to a thick ring, thin light pool, and features light sudsy lacing. Nose of
rich cocoa (Dominican as I was told from the head of the beer and wine department)
that is rich and earthy, with nice roasted notes and cream. Flavors follow the nose with
dark roasted malts awash in rich dark cocoa that is pleasantly dashed with cream and
breaded malts. Very nice mouth feel; smooth and silky, light carbonation, and a lightly
coating medium body.
An excellent stout and one that should be done more often. Their Panther taken to the
next level. Excellent!
Cheers

While the standard Panther American porter takes a robust, masculine and dark tone, this softer version of porter shows its gentle side with the seductive taste and aroma of coconut.
Dark brown, nearly black with faint translucence shown about the glass's margins. Capped with a creamy but short-lived froth, the scent is sultry with coffee, dark chocolate, toffee, cream and yes- coconut. To taste, it's the porter underneath that wins over the early palate- burnt toast, medium-strength coffee, bittersweet chocolate, and lightly scorched caramel.
As the dark ale seeps into the tastebuds, its lavish caramel and chocolate sweetness slowly begins to lift and the earth and spice of the porter sets in. Coffee-like bitterness and a slight rootish earth note suggests black jelly bean, a cocoa powder taste resides just ahead of the gentle marshmallow taste and texture of vanilla, cocoanut and heavy cream. Hop bitterness seems coffee-like and impacts the taste in a large way, but the coconut flavor easily disguise them.
Like mounds candy bars, the beer's weight on the tongue is full but dry. Its "Americanized" character allows the porter to carry a dry, crisp and slight mineral taste with a light alcohol simmer just below. Focused on malt, hops and coconut, other esters or malt complexities are foregone as the ale trails like those old fashioned candy bars.

Pours black in color with a little khaki colored head. The aroma is very strong of milk chocolate, I'm able to notice it just by setting the beer down in front of me. Roasted malts give it's chocolatey aroma a background to jump off of.
It's flavor is much of the same, but in a very good way. Milk chocolate forward with shades of sweet, roasted malts, and a somewhat bready finish.
This is an excellent tasting porter, and hands-down a tremendous upgrade from the base beer "panther" that it was derived from. I'd like to see this again, as soon as possible.
