Fiction's cousin, this Belgian XPA showcases the newer German varieties of Hallertau Blanc and Huell Melon to offer up notes of white wine, honeydew melon, honeysuckle flowers, and light tropical fruit.

Pale yellow body; lots of fine carbonation; thick, fluffy, sticky, white head. Sweet, wheat-y, fruity aroma; yeasty. The taste follows along the lines of the aroma; mild, fruity sweetness enveloping a gentle, cereal grain base; some subdued hop bitterness near the finish. Heavy body; rich and velvety; moderate sweetness at the finish.
A flavorful ale that pleases the palate with an excellent balance of mild fruit and honey-like sweetness atop a cracker-like body all wrapped within a nice residual sugar body. It delivers depth and complexity in an easily approachable, easy drinking beer.

Caveat: I am a big supporter of this local brewer. I love most of their beers and am really a fan of the setting in which they craft their potions (a renovated and formally dilapidated old brewery) in the historic OTR area of Cincinnati. All that said, this is really great. Complex. Delicious. Obvious quality. Well done Rhinegeist. Well done.

22oz bottle poured into a tulip
A: Hazy light burnt orange with a 1.5 finger head
S: Wheat & Belgian yeast but not much else going on
T: Wheat, herbs, Belgian yeast, white pepper and a bit of generic hop bitterness
M: Light-bodied, herbal and bitter
O: A nice blend. A substantial Belgian influence to the hops.

1 PINT, 6 FL OZ bottle
Served in a tulip glass
This beer pours pale yellow in color and is topped with an inch of off white head that leaves decent lacing.
The smell has spicy Belgian esters.
It showcases spicy and fruity flavors with a dry finish.
Moderate mouthfeel
It is exactly what I would expect from a Belgian pale ale. Rhinegeist nails the one offs. If you want a good review of this beer read BEERchitect's. That guy is a wordsmith.

Working on the well-treded base flavors of malt and yeast, those bready, fruity, spicy and dry tastes and textures invite the invigoration give by new hop varieties of hallertau blanc and heull melon. Fruity, tropical and winey, Fluxion keeps the tastebuds on their toes.
Pale gold and brilliantly clear, the beer's eloquent dance of bubble rise to build a creamy, foamy cap. Lightly toasted grains lay a dry and malty foundation as the nose is bright with citrus, rose, grape, tropical and melon scents that balance with light notions of white wine, straw and pepper. Sweet grains pour onto the tongue with light bread and spicy husks and are teeming with peppery carbonation.
As the middle palate unfolds, the soft fruitiness begins to tether through the malt. Juicy honeydew and kiwi blend into dried orange, lemon and green grape for a taste that fuses ale with wine. Balanced to perfection, the spicy side of taste is light of clove, peppercorn and spicy, grassy hops.
Finishing creamy-dry and medium-light, the beer's grain and starch provides a bready texture that shifts quickly to a minerally, snappy and peppery finish. Bittered to offset the lasting sweetness, the ale trails with a peppery, grassy, and floral honeysuckle aftertaste. All the pieces and parts to a well-made Belgian beer are all here, but they all just take a lightly muted character across the board.
