1 PINT, 6 FL OZ bottle
Served in a sour glass
This beer pours a brilliant copper color with burnt orange highlights. It is topped with
The smell is tart cherry, peach, mango, and wine.
The taste is definitely sour. I get sour apple and tart cherry. It almost has an apple cider vinegar taste but not quite.
Medium, dry mouthfeel
This is my first sour from Rhinegeist. It is pretty good. It definitely made my mouth pucker.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled in 6/2016. Pours slightly hazy reddish/pinkish orange/light copper color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy light pink head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big tart/sour cherry, raspberry, strawberry, currants, red grape, lemon, lime, green apple, hay, straw, grass, wheat, and cracker; with lighter notes of pepper, musty/leathery funk, red wine vinegar, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good complexity and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, cherry/currants, and moderate pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big tart/sour cherry, raspberry, strawberry, currants, red grape, lemon, lime, green apple, hay, straw, grass, wheat, and cracker; with lighter notes of pepper, musty/leathery funk, red wine vinegar, and yeast earthiness. Moderate fruity/lactic tart/sourness and light yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of tart cherry, raspberry, strawberry, currants, red grape, lemon, lime, green apple, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, light funk/vinegar, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, cherry/currants, and moderate pale malt flavors; with a great malt/tart/sourness balance, and zero puckering/astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from tart/sourness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately acidic/grainy, and fairly crisp balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 7.5%. Overall this is a very nice fruity sour ale. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, cherry/currants, and moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth and fairly crisp/refreshing to drink with the modest acidity. Very impressive sour/wild ale complexity; with nice fruit presence and balancing malts that never feel too sweet. A really enjoyable offering.

10 Oz pour on tap into a tulip
A: Nice red brown body leaning toward red with great clarity. Very little head but it was an off white reddish hue.
S: I'm picking up cherries, strawberries, and a little light red Raspberry.
T: lots of nice sour cherry taste a bit of an acidic lingering sourness
M: effervescent clean and light very refreshing.
O: This is an excellent cherry sour super easy to drink not sweet but huge cherry presence.

With enough of an acidic powerhouse to make the face "stick-that-way", Rhinegeist brewers are real sour pusses for their third birthday. Trips' unique employment of cherries and currant during the kettle souring process borrows a few tricks from Belgian and German brewing but puts their own unique spin on the American wild ale style.
Mauve, pink and ruby to the eye, the beer's ominous glow looks like an unpolished gem, but with a wisping white dissolving foam. Sour aromas flood the nose with the spectrum of dried lemon, lime, green apple, cherry, white grape, berry and a trace of musty sea air. Its taste is supple with initial sweetness, carrying a light cracker-like maltiness with sour fruit candy onto the front of the tongue.
Yet on the middle, the malt dissolves and the brunt of sourness charges in with tastebud piercing acidity. Sharp and sour citrus is woven with clean white cider vinegar, under-ripened berry, green cherry, crabapple and the slight robustness of red and rose wine. With more of the robust red fruits showing their stone fruit character in the beer's finish, the musty aura of burlap and branch-dried citrus carries briefly onward.
Medium-light on the tongue, the beer's acidity and fruit refreshment has the ale trending lighter, crisper and drier that is actual. A light tact on the tongue lingers with a brief cherry cola taste and a linger of almond, green apple and sour wine influence.
