5 Oz pour on tap

A: Small white soapy head. Body is a fairly clear light amber leaning toward gold.

S: a little bit of passion fruit and a little bubble gum. A little like crushed sweet tarts.

T: Not bad fruity lots of almost Wine grape taste with that musky sweet passion fruit and a biting finish of almost acidic bitterness.

M: medium bodied fairly smooth that abrasive finish is surprising.

O: The beer has a nice fruitiness but it has a very harsh metallic acidic bitterness almost like grapefruit levels of bitterness.

Nice work Rhinegeist! This is mellow yet hoppy DIPA is a perfect example of what fine craft beer can be when done with care and fine craftsmanship. The ABV is so well hidden that this beverage has potential dangers, but be not afraid. Order. Consume. Enjoy.

Big, juicy, floral and bitter- there's no way that any German beer would start out like that, right? But the newer hop varieties that are cropping up in those regions aren't only for pilsner anymore. As Rhinegeist boldly displays, these hops make for a fine imperial IPA as well.

Bright and golden, the beer could easily pass for fest-type lagers but its soft caramel, honey and simple sweetness suggests something stronger and firmer. Chocked full of peppery fruit, tropical and citrus with a tinge of white wine- the nose is suggestive of more typical IPA but with a sharper, spicier, tangier fruit-forward nose.

As the flavors unfold, the sweetness begins to drift and the floral aromas develop smoothly into a radiant fruity middle palate. Lemon, white grapefruit, white grape, melon, kiwi, passionfruit and the succulent tartness of gooseberry are all achingly represented, nearly evoking teeth-grinding behavior. Spicy and bitter late, the beer lingers with lemongrass, peppercorn and white citrus pith.

Medium-full with a creamy texture, the taste quickly becomes crisp, concise and resiny dry. Alcohol and bubbly carbonation facilitates a drying impression while soft malts continue to support the floral, fruity and spicy hops. A long grassy and peppery linger continues to hark back to traditional German lager.

Color is a honey amber color that is clear. The nose is of citrus hops that is heavy in the glass....which is great. The back taste that is stringent and lovely. Great beer.
