Jumping into the haze craze with both feet, the brewers at Rhinegeist bring the juicy to the Ohio Valley with a blend of herbal Mosaic and tangy Nelson Sauvin hops.
Chunky Brewster fills the room with fruity and herbal aromatics. Tropical, citrus and vinous fruits trail with tea, wine and grassy spiciness. Hazy golden and crowned with a rich creamy lather, the lazy beer glides across the tongue with pastry-like sweetness, the lightness of pulled candy and an overall doughy flavor and feel.
As the ale rolls across the middle palate, its sweetness dissolves and its hoppy attitude emerges. Citrusy with lemon, white grapefruit and under ripened oranges, the taste of exotic guava, passionfruit and pineapple all pull from the hops with the gusto of sherbet and hawaiian fruit punch. Bitter yet smooth in finish, the beer quickly turns to sassafras tea, gently muddled grass clippings and a citrusy nod to fresh hemp.
Medium bodied and trending malty dry, the IPA pulls back slightly on bitterness to allow for a light velvety mouthfeel albeit with the hop bite to keep the hop heads happy. A long and herbaceous aftertaste leaves much of its floral scents and its juicy fruitiness behind.
