Intently inspired by Mexican "mole" sauce and beautifully sculpted from dark grains, burnt sugars and complex nuance from fruit, alcohol and char; Rhinegeist's robust stout reigns in English brewing traditions yet hangs its hat on intense, well-crafted curiosity.

Just a shade off of black opaqueness, the Mole Ink pours intimidatingly dark and casts a frothy mocha-stained creme. Wonderfully burnt sweetness of caramel and toffee swirl underneath its nuanced chili spice, nuttiness and cocoa. Strongly scented with dark chocolate, espresso and roasting walnut, the taste ensues with the malt sweetness and carries a char similar to smoky chocolate, burnt toast and Mexican hot chocolate.

The middle is lavish and bold tasting as equal parts coffee, campfire, bittersweet chocolate and walnut mingle with toffee, grape and raisin for a sweet, fruity and roasty medley that become quite intent on full saturation of the mouth. As the flavor of chili pepper gains strength, the more nuanced characters of mole sauce resonates with the woodsy char of hops, pine and peat.

Rich and full upon the palate, the beer's creamy carbonation allows for the lightness of burnt chocolate and honey. Velvety and smooth, its sweetness and deeply embedded carbonation balances the roast with ease and ensures an aftertaste of Mexican hot chocolate once again, equipped with its simmering capsaicin spice.

From the growler via Jungle Jim's Eastgate in a snifter. This nice imperial pours
a rich dark motor oil with a nice head of tan foam that settles to a thick
ring, thin light layer, and displays some nice subtle lacing. Nose of
coffee, dark bakers chocolate, light cinnamon, and touches of pepper.
Flavors pack the punch with dark cocoa and cinnamon mingling nicely
with coffee and dark roasted malts and light char with a lightly tingly
spicy pepper note on the rear. Nice mouth feel; smooth lightly
creamy, rich, light carbonation, and a rich full warming boozy
finish that packs in loads of balanced flavor.

Overall, a solid addition to the Ink line and the Rhinegeist family
of brews.

Cheers
