a really cool brett porter, possibly in red wine or something, there is oak and dark fruit to this, and its a really neat flavor complexion, mature and well developed, up there with the best wild and funky beers i had in london. 2018 edition, and quite dry now. near black in color with some froth on top, simple and timeless looking, with a nose of both english ale yeast and some musty brett, neat with the almost charred dark grain and the raisin character that comes through, some dried red apple and port wine too, not sweet, but distinctly fruity. there is subtle oak tannins and vanilla here, the faintest oxidation, and a light vanilla vein, making me think this spent some time in barrels. so smooth in feel too, with the bitterness from the dark grain starting early but not breaking down the body at all. the brett is real funky and wild to me, vinous and autumnal at the same time, hints of musty basement and wet dog here, but the beer is so dry. blackberries, cabernet, and dark chocolate covered espresso beans to finish, but the brett keeps it drinkable instead of getting decadent. such a cool beer, one of my favorites in a pretty epic session, and a heck of an introduction to five points!

On tap at Underdog, Dublin.

Jet, ash, + fig then grape must, cola, big funk, then Raisinettes.

Syrupy dark fruit when cold then blossoms into Bretty beauty. Lots of wood + black grape. Proper historical.

Vatted London porter seems somehow fitting for my 2700th rating.
