This is a pretty typical porter, a very good example of the style, with the addition of a bit of smoke to the flavor. The flavor has medium roastiness, nice cocoa notes (without being a chocolate porter), and then a little bit of smoke. It's not a big beer, it's not a complex beer, it's simply a very well executed porter.
This reminds me of Black Butte Porter, but I like Cliff's a little better, because of the mild cocoa and smoke.

Very light smoke. Subdued roast. Very light chocolate.
