Waffles Breakfast Stout

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque black in the glass with a half finger dark khaki head with good retention and light lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, quality coffee, milk chocolate and faint dark dried fruit. Flavor is dark toasted malt with slight char, mocha coffee, milk chocolate and a little maple syrup. Finishes with chocolate and coffee. Medium bodied with light creaminess. They nailed the name of this one; it has a pastry stout body with a little light maple syrup. A little on the sweet side, but not cloying (a lot less sweet than a maple syrup drenched waffle). Only the chocolate notes don’t fit the waffle profile, but who doesn't want chocolate on their waffle or in a good, full bodied stout? I liked this a lot and would have it often if it weren't for the fact that coffee stouts keep me up at night. Nicely done.
