Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing opaque black in the glass with a quarter finger dark khaki head that slowly dissipates to patches with light lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, nuts, cocoa. Flavor is semi-sweet dark toasted malt, vanilla, mixed nuts and a little cocoa; cocoa, nuts and a touch of coffee in the finish. Medium bodied with moderate creaminess, nice silky mouth feel. A rich, nutty and vanilla forward dessert stout. No clear distinct type of nut here, somewhere between walnuts and hazelnuts. There is a slight walnut-like astringency in the finish, so maybe walnuts. Definitely on the sweeter side and a quite distinct vanilla not, but neither is unbalanced. Great mouth feel, much like an oatmeal stout or thick pastry stout. I like nutty stouts and I really liked this one. One of the better offerings I've had from Narrows; I'll pay attention to their stouts from now on.
