Dark gold color in the glass with a nice-enough white foam. Plenty of carbonation to go with the zingy tart taste. Moderately sweet with a bit of fruit flavor. Dark biscuit malty taste. Pears, dry apple cider, and a whiff of fermenting pineapple.
Nice balance, among the sugar, alcoholic heat, fruit, and yeasty bitterness. Excellent flavor and a very pleasant sipping brew. One of the best San Diego Tripels ever, in my experience. Overall, tasty Belgian flavors with a bold spicy heat. On tap at the brewery tasting room in east Mission Valley.
