May 21st, 2015 - I'm a sucker for a good Coconut Porter and the Space Oasis is a fine example of what I love. Dark and chill, it has a chalky, murky and soily aroma with a touch of sweet potato, but the aroma is more coconut milk than coconut. The flavor is also smooth and groovy, with a velvety coconut flavor.

On tap at the brewery. Dark, near black in the pint shaker. Modest head that doesn't last as well as hoped. Winey and a little oily for the mouthfeel. A decent spritziness, but less carbonation than average.
The deep, dark burnt flavors are pretty strong, but it's on the sweet and malty side rather than the dry. The coconut is pretty intense and tastes like it's been scorched a little, too. Rather sweet, and quite bitter like an IPA. Brewers say this is 40 IBUs. Interesting smell of coconut along with the flavor, is nice in the beer. Overall, this is just a little over-hopped and over-roasted, but I found that I finished the glass without intending to.
