Quick Take: With a nice pale color, it uses just the right amount of german smoke for a nicely balanced English style pale ale. For a more smokey experience, I recommend the Richter Rauch from Aftershock Brewing Company.

Attractive amber color with a tough of nicotine brown in the pint shaker. Modest head but the carbonation is quite pleasant. Nicely hoppy with a bitter aftertaste. Slightly rich in spite of the lower alcohol.
Fruity but on the dry side. Just tangy enough with a mild bitter aftertaste. The smoke is distinct but mild, with the beechwood smoked malt. Fragrant, though the smoke doesn't dominate there either. One of the better Rauchbier-style brews I've had in a long time. On tap at the Miramar-area brewery tasting room. A nice surprise-- a quaffable smoked beer.
