33cl into a tulip. Pours a nearly transparent light golden yellow. Towering pure white dense head recedes leaving clumpy froth.
Aroma is pungent with yeasty light skinned fruits, apricots, apples and pears plus a mild spiciness. Much depth, delicious
Sweet entrance, dry slightly bitter exit. Strong but pleasant phenolic kick joins the aftertaste. The phenols define this brew. Nice complexity. Full bodied mouthfeel. Warms well.

Bottle at Bier Circus. Got this since it seemed kinda rare. 2006 vintage added to the draw. From notes.
A - Poured with a great 2 finger eggshell fluffy head on a darkish gold body. Significant carbonation and some small sediment chunks. Great lacing and some good retention with chunks in the film left on top.
S - Woah. Great citrusy orange with carpety musty notes. Some hop, yeast, and candy are there too.
T - Much more yeasty and alot of that citrus, mustiness, hops, and sweet candy. Quite a bit more yeasty and a nice funk/hop compliment.
M - Medium to full body with good carbonation. Proper Tripel IMO.
O/D - Nice. Very nice beer. A good find combining alot of elements I like in a Tripel and good hops to go with it.

Pours a dark yellow-gold. A thin head dissipated quickly after pouring. Has a spicy, gingery, hoppy mouthfeel with a slightly bitter finish. Very smooth drinkability, almost like a blonde.
As a side note, I am confused as to who brews this beer. I realize Achouffe is the listed brewer, but the bottle I purchased (in Sept. 2010) has no indication it is brewed there. Either way, this is a solid, enjoyable triple.

This beer is not retired; I obtained a bottle at Willems Bierhandel in Grobbendonk, Belgium in March of 2009.
This pours a cloudy gold, with yeast at the bottom, and a nice thick head that dissipates moderately quickly, leaving a thin layer of bubbles and lace on the glass. Smells sweet, of tropical fruits, some floral perfumes, and grass. Tastes of tropical fruits--a little fruit punch--yeast, and mild hops. Also coriander and ginger. The mouthfeel is light, sweet at first, then finishing dry. This is certainly in the tripel style and a nice one at that. I don't know if this beer is still brewed by Achouffe, but if so, that may explain why it is so good.

Smell is malty with hints of straw. There is a fruitiness of the yeast, that appears to be like the Chouffe strain. The malt comes in second and is not strong. Bitterness is medium is at the level of Chouffe. Body is good and a bit sticky. A good triple!

I had this beer for the fist and only time while visiting the brewery last week.
This beer was somewhat of a....not quite a dissappointment, but not that impressive. I am a big fan of the L'Achouffe beers and had never even heard of this one, so I was really excited to try it!
It came in a really nice bottle with a design featuring a beautiful photo of the Ardennes and the eponymous witch flying across.
The beer poured an very light blonde with a white head that had decent staying power.
The aroma was very subtle, some yeasty notes, but no crazy esters.
Taste was very dry, somewhat hoppy. Almost lemony? It's tough to describe now. Not exactly what I was expecting, but a very drinkable ale none the less
