On tap at Ebenezers

A very lively- delicious, almost Deus like flavour. Has a head that lasts forever and is extremely creamy. The hops are extremely perfumy, floral, and well balanced in this brew. One of the most exciting beers to be tapped at Ebs yet!

On tap at BPH in Brookline, MA. A truly suprising Belgian. My understanding is that what we have here is an American Double IPA brewed by Brasserie d'Achouffe using d'Achouffe yeast. The result is something delighfully between a dubbel and an American IPA. Lovely hoppiness combined with a subtle sweetness. Somewhat lightly yeasty/cheesy at the end. Smooth and delicious, deceptively powerful and very, very easy to drink. I usually do not have the same beer twice in one sitting, but I simply could not stop at one with this unique, unusual and quite magical Belgian. Way you go d'Achouffe!

Enjoyed on tap at the Horseshoe Pub, Hudson, MA.

Presented in a small d'Achouffe tulip, with the backwards writing so as to be read through the brew. A 1/4" white head over the cloudy light brown brew, with heavy coating lacing. Aroma is lightly spicy pale malts. Taste is nicely balanced, sweetness coupled with complementing spices and light hopping. Mouthfeel and drinkability were excellent, this is definitely worth searching out.

This is a 12 oz pouring of Gnomette, served at Frisco Grille in Columbia, MD.

Appearance: The ale is a nice golden-yellow color. It is fairly clear with little sediment in it.

Smell: Unlike any beer I've ever smelled! First glass yielded a fruity clove-like nose. Second pour revealed the true depth. Raspberry is the dominant aroma, like a good thick raspberry jam.

Taste: The ale has a natural gamey taste to it. I am guessing that this is open fermented. The yeasts give it an unusual aroma, one that does not match the smell. The hops add enough of a kick to keep everything together.

Mouthfeel: Great mouthfeel. The hops and yeast and fruitiness combine to make a good beer.

Drinkability: I am not sure how strong this beer is, but it seems to knock you around a bit. This is called an experimental ale, but I think that the brewers at Brasserie d'Achouffe got it right.

Had a glass during Max's 72 Hours of Belgium. The bartender said this was a new beer and in "test the market" mode.

Appearance: clear yellow in color with a 1" head. Spotty lacing developed on the glass.

Smell: citrus, malt sweetness, and yeast are detectable.

Taste: biscuit, lemon, honey, coriander, yeast, and a nice spicy bitterness. Overall very easy drinking and very refreshing. Reminded me of a "lighter" version on La Chouffe.

Mouthfeel: medium body. Lightly crisp throughout, and a short citrus aftertaste makes it refreshing.

Drinkability: I definitely hope this makes it to bottles in the future. Extremely easy drinking and easily could be considered a session belgian beer. If you ever come across this, try it.

On tap at Delaney's Tap Room, poured into a snifter glass with a fluffy slightly off white head. Smells of funky Belgian yeast, pineapple, citrus, all-spice. Smooth mouthfeel and well carbonated. Tastes great, slightly lemony, meadow and hay-like, flowery with lots of funky yeast flavors. A real nice beer that I could quaff if it didn't run $8.50 per glass!!

On tap at Redbones, first glass drawn off the keg.
No other info from the barkeep, and a web search came up with nothing.
Presented pale, hazy gold, with a nill head.
Glass full to the brim and well chilled.
Very "Chouffe-like" in the nose, spicey and strong.
Cardamon and orange peel, fruity esters abundant, gummy and rich.
Finishes a bit sugary in the aromatics and bitter, with a hint of vanilla.
Mouthfeel is medium, with carbonation lowish.
Mild creaminess and a bit slick/chewy.
Largely bitter and quite fruity on the pallet with peppery notes.
Pineapple studded with cloves steeped in alcohol.
Finishes a bit sweet and long, with a lingering, firm , bitterness.
Probably better from the bottle, at proper temperature.
