Live Review.
22oz bottle poured into a Duvel Art tulip.
A: Pours a dark, yet clean copper orange. Leaves a 2 finger head that lasts and lasts. Leaves lacing on the glass that sticks around through the drink. Very, very impressive. Damn near perfect, if I'm honest.
S: Very, very nice. Pineapple, orange, tangerine, pine, and a bit of a honey like sweetness. Some light toast notes come through as well as a light bit of alcohol. Very solid, straightforward American IPA.
T: Holy crap. This is WAY better than I was expecting from this relatively new brewery. Starts off a bit pine resin and orange like, then turns immediately into toast and caramel. Alcohol shows its head from time to time, but doesn't detract from the beer. Back palate brings a floral character that wasn't there in the aroma, along with a light bit of yeast, some more orange, and finishes lingering and lightly bitter. Fantastic.
M: Slightly creamy carbonation, lighter side of medium. A little oily on the palate, but not overly so. Nice.
O: A damned solid beer. I've never had anything from this brewery, even though it's less than 20 minutes away from me. To be honest, I've seen their stuff at a lot of bars and shops in Central Ohio, and I kept telling myself that I would try their beer eventually. Well, today, I had that chance. I grabbed this one on a whim, just because I love IPA's. This one blew me away. I will be trying everything from Homestead that I can from this point forward. Even more impressive is that I do not know how old the bottle is. If this is what Homestead can do with my favorite style, I'd love to see what they can do with other styles.
Excellent.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
