The brewers of Homestead has no problem brewing the rich, chocolatey base for this lovely little porter - but we needed help from the outside to source that perfectly roasted coffee to round off our mocha promise. That's where our friends at Upper Cup Coffee in Columbus' historic Old Towne East stepped up! The Habte brothers leaned on their Eritrean roots and family tradition to bring flavors to these beans that are truly unique to our current time and place. One sip is all you need to see how the worlds of coffee and beer come together as one - a lofty and noble goal for us all!

One of the best porters I have had the pleasure to consume! I have been a coffee consumer for most of my life. When I was introduced to porters a few years ago, I fell in love! This Porter is the right balance of IBU, ABV, and coffee flavor! My hat is off to Homestead! Absolutely great brew for any occasion.

From the 12 oz can in a snifter via the brewery. This solid brew pours a dark
blackish brown with a very nice head of tan foam that settles to a thick ring,
thin dusty layer, and shows some nice lacing. Nose of dark cocoa, light
cream, dark coffee, and dark sweet malts. Flavors follow the nose nicely
with dark cocoa, dark coffee, cream, brulee, and rich roast and char. Nice
mouth feel; medium full body, medium light carbonation, and a lightly dry
and bitter malt finish.
Of note, some dark fruit notes appear with warmth.
Overall---solid!
Cheers

12 ounce can, no dating that I noticed on it but I'm pretty sure this was just released over the last week or 2. Served in a pint glass, the beer pours dark brown/black with not quite an inch tan head. Head retention and lacing are both good. Lots of coffee in the aroma, along with some mocha and roasted malt. For the most part I think the taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also the addition of some caramel and cream flavors. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's slick and a bit creamy with a moderate amount of carbonation. I think it's a good overall mocha porter, worth picking up if you like coffee beers! It was pretty good on tap at Homestead Delaware last weekend too.
