Dog Days of Summer Ale
Brewed with New Zealand Saaz hops. Had it paired with some barbequed salmon and the brightness of the ale worked perfectly.
Poured into a tulip produces a nice slid creamy white head. Bright gold colour, pretty good retention and lacing. 3.75
S – lemony citrus, chewy flowery yeast notes. Really firm presence, with some ‘stony’, mineral malty base. Light sweet florals from the hops, also fruity pears, passionfruit, banana. Also some musty yeast aromas, which is quite nice. Really unique profile, and also nicely balanced. Reminiscent of some quality Scottish pales I’ve had from Fyne. 4
T – starts with some pear fruitiness, firm semisweet cereal malts. A thicky chewy fruity profile, minerality as well with a somewhat lightness in profile, some nice bitterness present but it doesn’t get in the way and dried the finish out pretty well. A slight exotic profile with some kiwi maybe and passionfruit, slight spice in there. Hops are quite interesting and add a tasty element to it. 4.25
M – good firm pale ale, solid body, moderate carbonation, firm feel to it and then a dry lingering finish. Refreshing and light, but a bit more heft and flavor than average. 3.75
A real treat, this has a good balance of sweet malt and aromatic exotic hop character, blended really well in an easy drinking pale. Worth trying, pretty tasty summer satisfier. Might tasty. 4.
