They called this a "light pale lager" at Bier Garden in Encinitas. It's certainly flavorful and refreshing, and yes it's light. But it's such a step up from the industrial versions it's interesting to try to figure out how this does so well with such a low alcohol content.
There's a resiny taste, something like cornmeal with a hint of orange. Just sharp enough to lift it up from the delicate malt. The hop flavors are intriguing and flavorful. Brewer says it's made with Ella and Summer hops from Australia. There's a Pilsner-like perfumey flavor that adds to the interest.
This is a great quaff and would be a sensation in the low-ABV Utah brewing world. Clear golden color with modest foam in the pint shaker, but plenth of suds. A nice surprise and well worth trying as a "session" candidate.
