Sampler at a local bar. Looked OK but tasted burnt and bitter. Would not drink.

Nitro draft. Taster glass.
A: black with a sandy thick cap that retains like nobody's business.
S: sweet, licorice, caramel, prunes.
T: light, sweet, mild roasted malt bitterness, mild malty sweetness. This is a light and sweet stout.
M: slick smooth, nitro!
O: I can see why hardcore RIS fans don't like this, though I love it. Not smoky, not coffee, not really that bitter, and the alcohol is very well hidden (which is hard to do with a nitro). I'd love to try it carb'd.

Enjoyed from the750 ml bottle in a snifter. This nice imperial pours a muddy brownish black with a nice tan head of big bubbled foam that settles to a thick layer and very nice lacing. Nose of cocoa, raisin, roasted malts, light coffee, and a touch of lactose. Flavors follow the nose with cocoa and raisin on the front and sides that mingle nicely with the deeply roasted coffee flavors and roasted malts. Sweetness comes through on the middle to back with a cola and cream flavor that is excellent. Warmth brings out deeper flavors and a good amount of warming alcohol to the back of the taste. Great mouth feel with very lively carbonation and a sweet cocoa and coffee infused aftertaste. Excellent.
The more I have of this brewery the more I like it.
Cheers

Average on all accounts except taste and mouthfeel: it was smooth as silk (when served on nitro tap) and sweet without being cloying.

I believe this is an example of a beer done simply, true to style. This is a small brewery and most likely has a small staff. It reminds me of a beer where the brewer followed a simple google recipe, stayed true to it, and had a mediocre outcome.
Very dark black in color, almost no other hues shine through even when held up to the light. The body and flavor profile seem a bit light, or again mediocre, for an imperial stout, but this isnt bad. Its worth trying.... unless you have to go out of your way to do so.
