Beer is definitely interesting. I feel there something like a hint of booze, it is a strong beer, definitely. It leaves a long-lasting aftertaste, can not say very pleasant, though. It also stays for a while on your lips and if you lick them after a while you can still feel the beer.

660cl bottle

appearance: hazy golden, 2 finger head that stays for a while, poor lacing and retention. Medium to low carbonation.

Smell: strawberry/raspberry jam all the way, very sweet.

Taste: same as the smell, really sweet and a bit boozy.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied, sweet aftertaste (what a surprise huh?) it's nice.

Overall: I don't know if all the batches are like the one I tried. It was a very sweet beer, almost tasted no malts nor hops, so it's hard to describe.

As the Belgian follies for flavor run through the Finca Buena Vista Brewery, they embark upon the Belgian tripel ale- a fruit, spicy and strong ale that favors malt complexity, sweetness and fruitiness over that of spice, effervescence or dryness.

Me Pateo La Burra's rusty orange pour is hazy and somewhat lumbered as it settles in the glass. Light in head character, its scent rolls onto the senses with peach, pear, orange and banana. Its cakey sweetness latches onto the early palate with caramel, honey and cookie dough.

As the malts lay down a thick blanket of sweetness on the tongue, the middle palate continues a fruity balance- papaya, mango, apricot, apple, maraschino cherry, jam and berry meet sweet expectations and simmer on the finish with the low lying spiciness of white pepper, clove and vanilla. A light marzipan finish has the ale trending dessert-like and full.

The beer's full body and continues malt dominance has the ale tasting and feeling like a fruity barleywine. The traditional zest, pepper, hop and dryness of traditional Belgian tripel has trended sweet and somewhat syrupy leading to a light cloying finish with the light simmering warmth of ouzo.

Dark amber color with a thick off-white head with great retention and leaving some laces.
Aroma with notes of oranges, herbal hops, honey, hay, earth and mild pear.
Flavor with notes of pears, Cointreau liquor, hay, earth, peppery yeast, herbs and a bit of toasted malts. Dry aftertaste with a medium bitterness. This might have been sweet when younger, after 9 months there was some attenuation to balance this.
Light to medium body with appropriate carbonation. Alcohol of 11% is superbly well managed, just enhancing flavor and it feels much lower.
This Belgian Strong Ale (less phenolic than a Tripel, but sort of half way there) surprised me, once I was expecting a mule kick, as the name says, given the 11% abv. If they would have taken out the hay and earthy notes would have a more enhanced flavor and better fit to both style.
