From tasting notes 05/20/18
Had on-tap at Roundtable Clubhouse in Citrus Heights, CA
Appearance - Served up in an 11oz snifter, black with dark, cola brown edging. Thin, tan layer of suds, thickening up around the edges. Nice lacing with broken webbing and small spotting.
Smell - Roasty aroma with a touch of fudgy, chocolatey sweetness.
Taste - Follows the nose. Surprisingly balanced with the roasted malt and chocolatey, fudgy sweetness. Mild bready undertone. Finish lingers much the same, with the roast and fudge battling it out until they eventually fade.
Mouthfeel - Near full-bodied with moderate, tingly carbonation. Slick, slightly creamy texture with a crisp, mostly dry and semi-sticky finish.
Overall - Donuts in the mash? I thought this was gonna be diabetes in the glass but its surprisingly balanced, maybe leaning a bit on the sweet side, and damn delicious. Sorry I missed out on the 4-pack but Im glad I got to try it on draft. Solid dessert brew - 11oz is a good pour for it.
