Had on-tap at New Glory in Sacramento, CA
Appearance - Served up in a snifter, cola brown with a coppery tinge. Mostly barren surface with a fair ring of suds around the edge of the glass. A decent amount of small spots make up the lace.
Smell - Chocolate. Faint roast. Mild cream. Spice that tinges the nostrils.
Taste - Follows the nose. Mostly mild chocolate with faint cream and even less roast. The heat kicks in at the tail end, adding a fair amount of pepper heat, but nothing terribly formidable.
Mouthfeel - Light in body with fair carbonation. Smooth, slightly creamy texture with an easy drinking finish.
Overall - Fairly similar to their brown I just reviewed, but with the addition of pepper spiciness. Better by default, but still suffers from a lack of nicely developed brown ale flavor profile.
