Well shit, since I've reviewed the base flippin' good, might as well review the chocolate version.

Pours the same standard imperialized brown that is less thick than a porter, but isn't too far off either. 1/3" lighter brown head. Aroma is still really nice, now they're throwing chocolate on top of it. Best thing about this beer is the smell, and it isn't even close.

Taste is a roughly sweet, albeit not as bad as the base beer version. Its slightly closer to balance with some roasting going on extra, be it coffee or dark chocolate, or just the malt stands out as roasty more in this iteration. Ultimately, they both don't get a repeat purchase/try from me because they're too sweet and non beer like. Like, I love Chocolate Rain, but this doesn't elevate anywhere near that. New Glory makes so many damn good beers of the pilsner and hoppy variety (Psychic Venom/Wakey Wakey is also awesome) that I can't envision going back to this. Pass.

From tasting notes 02/02/19
Had on tap at New Glory Eatery in Granite Bay, CA

Appearance - Served up in a 10.5oz thin snifter, dark cola brown in color with a fair ring around the edge of the glass. Broken lines and small spotting makes up the lacing.

SmellĀ  - Chocolatey aroma with lesser roast. Touch of maple.

Taste - Follows the nose. Strong chocolaty base with lesser roast and a hint of maple sweetness. Not really picking up the pancake character. Finish is light roast and bittersweet dark chocolate.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with fair carbonation. Drinks easy enough before a slightly dry finish.

Overall - Maybe my least favorite of the 3 Flippin' Goods. I'm just not picking up any pancake, and roast is too prominent for what the intention is here. Still good and tasty, but not up to snuff with the OG and Blueberry.
