I think I traded E a Black Tuesday for some pastry stuff from New Glory because I'm a nice guy. This is one of those beers. Truffles, I've never understood the affinity for them, seems like some upper middle class shit.
Pours black/very dark brown. My picture does not show any head retention. The aroma was that of a raspberry stout. More chocolate to it than roasted malt. Nothing truffle about the aroma, but I don't think humans can even smell truffles, that's why they use dogs and pigs and shit to find 'em.
The taste was a mirror of the nose. Chocolate, raspberry, vanilla. Roasted malt? Tough to tell aside from the color of the beer. There is that bitter alcohol heat thing going for it. Subdued carbonation that makes sense. I dunno, this beer didn't seem very nice nor very evil. This end result could be exactly what they were going for. I've definitely had better pastry stouts and hoppy beers from this brewery.

Appearance - Pours out thick and dark cola brown with a tan, near two-finger width head. Fair retention before dying to a mostly barren surface with a razor thin ring around the edge of the glass. Fair lacing with broken webbing and small spotting.
Smell - Mmmm. Deep, fudgy chocolate and sweet raspberry.
Taste - Follows the nose. Good amount of fudgy chocolate with a nice kiss of raspberry sweetness and slight tartness, especially in the finish. Pretty straight forward, but damn good. Some light roastiness in there to keep the sweetness at bay.
Mouthfeel - Thick, full-bodied and with low carbonation. Creamy and damn smooth at 14% ABV.
Overall - Damn good impy. Not too sweet, and that creamy body is spot-on for the flavor. It's really a raspberry chocolate truffle in beer form.
