So this is like the Hawaiian version of their Wakey Wakey coffee porter.
Pours black, brown head 1/2". Has a big blast of coffee similar to its base origins, very good, but just not that world class elite tier like the OG wakey wakey, this one has its blend with macadamia nuts and you know, a different kind of coffee.
Taste reveals much the same, its a very good beer, but the coffee level just doesn't slap as hard. Has all the same characteristics in terms of the roasted malt base, but this one comes in with the nuts as part of the coffee blend, thereby making it actually less coffee than its counterpart. The vanilla as well is nice if you're looking for a less aggressive coffee porter. I thought the OG had the right amount for my tastes, so again, here, a very nice mouth feel with the nuts and vanilla, but being that it causes less impact from the coffee (what this beer is all about IMHO) it is a slight downward departure. But you should definitely check it out, its still hella good, and I would buy a 4 pack if it was canned up again.
