22 ounce bottle into a snifter. Had 12/19/16.
Pours an oily looking dark brown, mostly opaque, with no real head and some spotty lacing. Smells of coffee, malt, chocolate, espresso, light raisins and figs, an odd, brief hint of banana. The taste follows the nose with the coffee, malt and chocolate, then figs, cocoa, some raisins. Very good flavor. Smooth, a little creamy, not as full bodied for the style as most, but a good body, well carbonated.
Solid effort. An interesting flavor, in which the coffee is the star, but overall not as roasty or full bodied as most RIS's. Worth a purchase the next time it comes around.
