As of this writing, I've not had much if any experience with porters. Poured into a tulip glass, half inch of head that goes away slowly. Dark brown appearance. Chocolatey yet light flavor. Almost the carbonation of soda. A finish that is clean, slightly very slightly, did I mention very slight, whisper of balsamic vinegar. Pretty tasty brew and sessionable at 5.3 ABV.

Appearance: Dark brown. Very thin like a lager with no foam or lacing.
Smell: Notes of molasses, balsamic, and maple, but none of these stick out. I would expect a porter to have more character.
Taste/Mouthfeel: Smoked wood, specifically oak, cedar, and pine. A hint of maple as well. I definitely enjoy the earthy notes in this. Mouthfeel is very crisp and smooth like a lager. Easy to drink.
Overall: Strikes me as more of a black lager or a dunkel lager. Not a great porter, but a good "lager."
