Super stoked to pair up with new friends, Modern Times Coffee out of San Diego bringing both worlds together on this adventurous quest to spread comradery and happiness with this bourbon barrel aged coffee imperial stout. The coffee they selected for us is Columbia Silvia, which is grown by the Maya family in Colombia's Antioquia region. This delicious coffee has a lovely chocolate character and finishes with wonderful citrus notes.

Really great barrel aged stout here by Griffin Claw! The coffee really adds in a nice flavor to this smoky beer. There is really not much flaws about this beer, and none I can mention immediately. Nice brew!

16 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 10/22/2019. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 1 finger fairly dense and fluffy tan head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a small cap that lasts. Thick foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, medium roast coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, fudge, bourbon, toasted oak, nuttiness, and dark bread; with lighter notes of coconut, molasses, raisin, fig, cherry, date, smoke, leather, tobacco, herbal, grass, peppercorn, and yeast/roast/oaky earthiness. Minimal booze in the aromas as it warms. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/black/roast/bready malts, coffee, bourbon barrel, and light earthy hop/fruity yeast notes; with big strength. Taste of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, medium roast coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, fudge, bourbon, toasted oak, nuttiness, and dark bread; with lighter notes of coconut, molasses, raisin, fig, cherry, date, smoke, leather, tobacco, herbal, grass, peppercorn, and yeast/roast/oaky earthiness. Very mild herbal, grassy, peppery, roasted bitterness; and minimal bourbon/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, medium roast coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, fudge, bourbon, toasted oak, nuttiness, dark bread, coconut, molasses, dark fruit, smoke, leather, tobacco, herbal, grass, peppercorn, and yeast/roast/oaky earthiness on the finish for a while. Amazing complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/black/roast/bready malts, coffee, bourbon barrel, and light earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; with with a fantastic hop/char bitter/sweet and bourbon/oak spiciness balance; with no cloying/acrid/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness. Medium carbonation and fairly full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/velvety/bready, and lightly slick/sticky/chalky/tannic mouthfeel that is fantastic. Minimal warming alcohol for 12%, or lingering barrel booze after the finish. Overall this is an amazing flavored barrel aged Russian imperial stout. All around amazing complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/black/roast/bready malts, coffee, bourbon barrel, and light earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the huge ABV, with the mildly bitter/tannic/drying finish. Amazing soft/silky feel for the ABV, definitely the softest in the series so far. Perfectly balanced with super rich malts, fruity/nutty coffee complexity, and bourbon barrel presence/integration; mild earthy hops and fruity yeast. Light residual sweetness with lingering dryness. A highly enjoyable offering, and amazing spot on style example as expected. Definitely one of the best in the series.

Pours a black color with a minimal head that disappears quickly. Aroma is chocolate and coffee. Tastes of chocolate, roasted malts, coffee and alcohol. Finished with a hint of bitterness. Good mouth feel.
