16 ounce can into snifter, canned in 11/2019. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy deep golden amber/light orange color, with a 1 finger fairly dense and foamy off white head with poor retention, that reduces to a minimal spotty lace cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas and flavors of big peach, pineapple, apricot, orange, passion fruit, mango, honeydew melon, red apple, white grape, berries, citrus peel/zest, peppercorn, pine, honey, white bread dough, light caramel, wood, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light booze in the aromas as it warms, but not overwhelming. Light-moderate herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery piney bitterness; and light alcohol spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of peach, pineapple, apricot, orange, passion fruit, mango, honeydew melon, red apple, white grape, berries, citrus peel/zest, peppercorn, pine, honey, white bread dough, light caramel, wood, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/tropical hops, fruity yeast, and bready malt notes; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and no cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing bitter/spicy alcohol dryness. Mild increasing warmth of 15%, with minimal lingering booze after the finish. Overall this is a fantastic American barleywine. All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/tropical hops, fruity yeast, and bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to sip on for the huge ABV, with the mellowly bitter/spicy/drying finish. Awesome Galaxy hop showcase, with a pretty clean fruity yeast character, and balancing rich malts. Not overly sweet/heavy from lingering dryness. A highly enjoyable offering, and outstanding style example, as expected of the brewery.
