Imperial pumpkin ale aged in maple syrup bourbon barrels. We took Our Acclaimed Fall Seasonal, Screamin' Pumpkin ale, but made it imperial and threw it in maple syrup aged bourbon barrels instead of regular ol’ bourbon barrels and let it age For 10 Months. The result is a nice sweet smelling spiced pumpkin ale, a smooth full mouthfeel with hints of bourbon and sweet maple.

Had on tap. Looks just like the BBA version but the brown is a little light and lacing is way less. Smell has a great balance of big bourbon, maple and pumpkin spices, with supporting faint vanilla, caramel, oak, and brown sugar. Taste has the same elements, but here the bourbon, spices, maple, brown sugar and molasses star together. Feel is slightly cooler than the BBA variant, still barrel forward with spices and maple dipped malts being present on the finish. Another home run of a pumpkin beer

Brief Review:

O: Interesting variant on the classic BIP here. Maple is a nice autumnal flavor, and it adds a nice element to an already great beer. It's subtle and not overpowering, which is great, because I was nervous it'd be too sweet or cloying. But the compliments stop there. This is certainly inferior to regular BIP. The beer overall comes out a bit more muddy, less balanced, boozier and just more harsh on the palate. Not sure where they went wrong, but the drinking experience is not as pleasant as with BIP. But, it's still Halloween, and this is a great specialty pumpkin beer to close out the season with.

Recommendation: If you at all enjoy BIP, then this is a must-try. But beware, it may not live up to the hype.
