Poured into a pint glass. Dark brown body with a tan head that disappeared in a blink, leaving scant lacing. The dominant scent of cocoanut was quite off-putting. Miraculously, this did not significantly affect the taste, which does resemble German Chocolate Cake. A good chocolate base is surrounded by vanilla, cocoanut, toasted malt, bourbon, and hops notes, and creates a tasty blend. The mouthfeel is a bit sticky, but no more than could reasonably be expected from a 12% ABV barrel aged imperial stout. This beer is quite robust, and feels quite satisfying... more like a food than a beverage. I might like this better than my final cumulative rating would indicate. I bought this as part of a 4 pack of various Griffin Claw 12% Flying Buffalo bourbon barrel-aged brews... and I might just run back for more.

Poured from the pint can into a pint glass. The beer is a nearly solidly opaque dark brown color with just a faint smidge of light coming through at the top. Head was dark tan, slightly foamy with moderate retention.
Smell is slightly boozy with hints of chocolate all throughout. Vanilla and roasted notes come through and also a slight soy sauce note. Molasses. Caramel. Toast.
Taste is mostly chocolate with hints of bourbon and caramel. Slight roasted note in the middle. Finishes with a boozy character alongside a quick hint of sweet coconut. Smooth mouth feel.
Overall, a big beer with a big presence. This packs a punch. It's a little much, but isn't that the point? Not my favorite, but not bad by any means.

It bangs on the GCC, but I had difficulty pinpointing the BA notes within.

Pours and feels thick. Instantly tastes like chocolate with some pleasant bitterness. Mild alcohol feel on the back end (good). Great beer to sip all night.
