Aged 9 months in bourbon barrels and brewed with creamy lactose and rich vanilla. The result is a smooth, full-bodied stout with classic root beer flavor, layered over deep-roasted malts and a warm bourbon finish.

I don't know how you get a root beer flavor into a beer but it's nicely there. However so is the alcohol burn, but not the flavor of its source barrel. Whether its bourbon barrel-aged or whiskey, or whatever, the root beer and the alcohol burn masks that flavor. But it's still a very good beer.

Additional note: the mouthfeel really thickens as the beer warms.

Pours jet black with a very thing dark caramel head on top. HOLY smells like an A&W root beer. Along with some vanilla. Taste is weird? Root beer but has something else to it. Not good.
