Provided by my sister-in-law – thanks Missy! Reviewed 2/26/20.
Undated 12 oz can. Stored at home at 42 degrees and served at 55 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter.
Appearance – 3.
First pour – Dark brown, murky.
Body – Dark brown/black, opaque. When held to direct light, unchanged.
Head – Large (Maximum 5.5 cm, aggressive center pour), dark tan with a pinkish cast, medium density, fizzy and short duration, diminishing to a 5 mm crown and a thin partial cap with a few rocks.
Lacing – None.
Aroma – 3 – Weak cocoa, no cherry.
Flavor – 4 – Slightly bitter with cocoa being weakly predominant over weaker cherry. No alcohol (4.6% ABV as marked on the label) flavor or aroma. No diacetyl, no dimethylsulfide.
Palate – 3 – Thin, watery, lively carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 3.75 (Minus 0.25 point for an undated can). Feels more like a standard porter than a stout porter. Seems over carbonated. Flavor is decent.
