Braunfelser Festbier from 5 Stones. 16 oz can purchased from 5 Stones (09/11/21), New Braunfels, TX. $13.48 (including tax)/4-pack ($0.279/oz). Stored at reefer in store and at 40 degrees after purchase. Reviewed 01/03/22. Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Bottom of can stamped “FESTBIER CANNED ON 09/16/21”. Served at 45.1 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. Final temperature 49.6 degrees.
Appearance – 4.
First pour – Straw (SRM 3), clear.
Body – Pale Gold (SRM 4), clear. When rear-lite, same.
Head – Average (Maximum 4.8 cm, aggressive center pour), floral white, average retention, diminishing to a five to twelve mm crown fed by moderate carbonation and a rocky partial cap.
Lacing – Fair. Partial ring of tiny bubbles and a few scattered islands.
Aroma – 3.5 – Malted barley, floral hops, no yeast.
Flavor – 3.5 – Begins slightly sweet and malty, quickly shifting to a light floral bitterness. No yeast. No ethanol (5.6 % ABV, as marked on container) taste or aroma. No gastric warming occurs. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. Ends dry.
Palate – 3.25 – Medium, lightly syrupy, lively carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 3.5 Seems about identical to the Kolsch but just a shade less dry.

Thanks to Ozzylizard for this one, from one of his hits during NBS BIF#14. 16oz can (dated 9/16/21) poured into 14oz teku. Poured a clean, clear dark copper color with an inch of just off-white head that had good retention and light lacing.
The aroma was fairly typical for the style; nice earthy base grains, with some caramel, floral hops, and a touch of yeast spice.
Fairly similar on the tongue, just better developed. The spiciness popped out a bit more. and the caarmel wasn't as strong.
The body seemed a bit fuller than usual for the style, but was still light, smooth, and had a semi-dry finish.
Drinkability was very good, a very easy quaff, as is fitting for a Fest brew.
Overall, a pretty nice version of the style. Certainly worth a try if you see it.
