Quirky place with nice selection of beers. Food is great as well. Indoor and outdoor spaces available with lots of TVs and projection screens. Good place to visit, multiple times.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Great beer, good prices, seating can be hard to come by.

 

 

 

 

Blue Stallion is a German style brewer and they rarely stray away from that. Have you ever had well-brewed, fresh German style beers?...They are amazing! You get what you would expect from a solid, local brewer. They do make a decent IPA and even lemonade for the non-alcohol crowd. As of early 2017...Dad's Favorite's, a local sandwich shop has set up food service in Blue Stallion, which may be worth your trip on it's own. The one thing you will remember about Blue Stallion is the abnormally tall bar. Seriously...short people may not be able to see the bartender.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Went midday with a few friends while visiting Lexington for the first time. Awesome place! Pool table, darts, shuffle board, and several tvs made our experience a lot of fun. I got a flight of 5 beers, my friends/tour guide got a .5 Liter of one of their beers. Great German beer selection with a few solid guest beers on tap. Also, they have a giant bar (giant meaning tall).

The environment and staff at Blue Stallion make this brewery the best in Lexington. There was a time when my friends and I accidentally showed up about 30 minutes before the doors opened, and instead of turning us away or making us wait, the head brewer left us come sit at the bar and let us enjoy a pint! Great people, great beer, great place.

Thursday night around 7. Felt like a midget sitting at the massive bar "built to German standards" whatever the heck that means. Sitting in a stool, the bar came up to my neck and I'm 5' 11. Fun stuff.

Got two flights and was able to sample all the beers. I love well done lagers (except Dunkelweizen) and these guys do it right. I had a pilsner, helles, hefe, 70 schilling, dunkel, english IPA, smoked lager, schwartz, wee heavy, and oatmeal stout.

The only beer I could pick apart was the smoked lager/rauchbier as it was a tad too sweet for me (and not smokey which I want too much of). The guys playing trivia next to me were drinking the Dunkel by the litre which I could easily do as well if it was not for driving and work the next AM.

Nice space and a beautiful old world brewing set up very visible from the back. They had a Gyro caterer inside as it was too cold for a food truck. The gals running the bar could be a bit more chatty but it was busy so I won't bust 'em for that.

8 years ago I struggled to find good beer in Lexington. Now I struggle to decide which place to go to.

 

Some very good European Style beers here.

Went on a slow Sunday night a few weeks ago. The bartender didn't seem very interested in finding out if I liked their beers nor did she offer any suggestions to try on the guest taps.

My main reason for stopping was a couple of their guest taps, which of course they don't offer growler fills of. Blue Stallions house brews were standard fare and even the award winning Barrel Aged Doppelbock was a big letdown.

I hate bashing small breweries because I like the idea of better craft beer but this place didn't seem to have anything going for it except a nice building to house it in.

I hope the keep working at the beer, at least.

 

I did all the Lexington breweries in one afternoon and as a place, this was my favorite. They have a large bar and also tons of couches and tables around too. It is very nice and spacious inside.

Tap-wise, it was mostly their beers with a few guests. Blue Stallion focuses on German style beers. All the ones I had were good but not mind-blowing.

Most importantly though, it is rare to find a place that serves good beer AND has a pool table!

 

 

 

 

A staple of mine for a long time. The taproom is fine. I really like the high bar. The beer is good and they stick more to styles you would’ve seen a lot more of a few years ago. That’s a good and bad thing.

 

Blue Stallion's setup is beautiful. There's an open view of the brewery, and the layout is open and inviting. The only major negative is that the bar is far too high for most people to comfortably sit at, sitting on a stool leaves the counter still at shoulder height. But there's lots of other places to sit that are fine.

Our visit was for their Sauerfest Day at the end of the local Craft Beer Week. The bartender was unable to answer any questions about the tap/bottle list, and even seemed annoyed that I would bother to ask, because as she said, she'd have had to open one of the bottles to find out answers to questions about which ones may taste more or less sour than others. Maybe that's the fault of the bar manager for not prepping the bartenders beforehand, I don't know, but it made for an unpleasant experience.
