Beer #7 from my 2025 Advent Calendar....
A- This pours right out of the can with a super aggressive carbonation that takes up half of my glass with only about a tenth of a pour completed. I will say that the foam settles down rather quickly, with big white head that is rather bubbly becoming nothing more than a thin layer within thirty seconds....there are mango colored streaks within the head, suggesting a thick pulp or (and I hope not, artificial coloring). The coloration of the brew itself is of mango juice...orange and quite hazy in appearance.....there is plenty of carbonation rising to the top and while there is no lacing, there is quite the residue laced film that clings to the inside of my glass.
S- I don't smell really any sort of sourness to this beer, but rather a super juicy, sweet mango fruit pulp that reminds me of those frozen concentrate cans purchased in the grocery store. There is malt robustness, notes of orange pulp, pineapple and guava nectar blended into the mix, while the finish is sweet and of more tropical juiciness. I don't believe I've tried a sour prior to this that smelled like I poured a fruit juice mix out of my grandmas pitcher.
T- Oh this is quite the juicy flavor happening here....very tasty! This is completely a blend of various fruits.....think pineapple, guava, mango, cantaloupe, orange, honeydew, and I'm sure theres a few more in the mix but this is what I'm picking up. The sourness is really at a minimum here, but there is definitely some tartness that extends into the finish, and that itself is clean and perhaps just with a hint of bitterness to send it off. Again a very lovely flavor that reminds me of Summer!
M/O- Because of the fruit pulp here, this one is more into a medium body, and while the carbonation is on the heavier side of things, it is refreshing and keeps the palate fresh. I would have this over any sort of seltzer on a hot Summer day, and even with the weather being cold (but very nice for this time of year), it is a pleasantly drinkable fruit refresher....nobody would ever know it was 5.9%! I like this for what it is....not a go to brew that I think is great, but a super approachable sour that could very easily get somebody who's interested into the style. Cheers!
