Lively after work crowd in industrial brick building on the southwest side of town. Curved bar opposite the entrance seats about 15 with plenty of tables about the room and on the back patio. 13 house, 14 guest beers on tap... nice variety of local breweries. Friendly bartenders. I did not try the food.

Open space as one bay in a strip mall setting. Shared parking lot out front. Angled bar towards the back of the room. Open area with low and high tables. Upstairs patio. Relatively low lighting. Twenty four taps, some on nitro. Wide selection of styles, but quite standard overall. Cooler has cans to go. TVs showing music videos. Kitchen on site with a full food menu. Friendly and congenial staff. Low key spot for beer and food.

I’ve been here a few times and their beers are average at best, including their flagship IPA. The place has a big pizza parlor vibe with great tunes, people eating, family friendly, and knowledgeable helpful staff. Tried a couple of Beer Week collabs, and both were disappointing. I’ve seen people eating great looking pizza in the past, so I got a Monster slice. The toppings were delicious and the dough was undercooked cardboard. I couldn’t finish the slice or the beer. I stop in here every six months or so to see if it has gotten better beer-wise because it is close to my wife’s relatives, but I’m seriously thinking I may not revisit. So many better places to drink/eat in Charleston...hoping my next visit is better...

Love the big taproom and all the selection. Very comfortable and like that I can get pizza from Zombie Bob's!

I had this place circled as my must visit Charleston brewery. Everything about it seemed right in my wheelhouse. I liked the logo, the tie in with the Zombie Bob's pizza. It seemed to have it all. When I stopped by, it was so busy I couldn't even sit down. I didn't mind that, but the taproom was pretty soulless. The beer I had was good, but not mind blowing. This is still a good place, I might've just had my expectations set a little too high.

The brewery was easy to find in an industrial area. The place itself is very small and rustic, which I enjoyed. They are about to relocate to another location which I assume will be more of a refined look/design. I prefer the rustic/industrial setup of being able to drink my beer right next to the tank it was brewed but to each their own. I was there on a Tuesday evening and it was just about empty. The service was friendly and excellent along with some thought provoking discussion. They had a good variety of styles and number of beers to choose from. I had a good experience and would reccommend a visit.

This place showed some potential, good variety of beers, standout was the Cucumber Thyme wheat. Lemongrass saison was ok, jalapeno cilantro pale was ok, the English bitter needed some work.

The location was random and not really close to anything. Heard they may already be moving, which would be a good thing. Located in an industrial area, walk through a garage door and you're in the brewery. Tables and folding chairs and shelves with brewing equipment. Small bar for 5-6 people. Pretty bare bones, but decorated with some random fun stuff. Games and magazines in one corner. There was an affectionate brewery dog that became our new best friend.

Service was fine, I asked about the beers and the guy basically read off the whole beer list to me. He said they had some different bottles than on the chalkboard and I had just asked what they were. They were giving away CHS beer week pints with a bottle purchase. Prices were good, flights of 4 for $8.

2017: Frothy Beard has moved to a new spacious location, more centrally located in West Ashley...

Like so many other micros, this one is tucked into a light industrial/commercial park. Easy to find, plenty of parking.
The staff are very friendly (kind of important!), quite knowledgeable on the product and will happily chat if they're not busy.
They gladly fill anyone's growlers (I brought two up on the motorcycle from CCB when I visited Chucktown) and the beer was as fresh 10 days & 500 miles later as it was in the pint glass.
My only complaint is shared with all the Charleston breweries: The hours are too few. (Most breweries are open 3-8, some 4-7, a few only 3 days a week!). Must be a state law or some such nonsense.
12 different offerings of their brews made choosing hard. I absolutely LOVED the Assimilation Stout & Cucumber Thyme wheat so much I got growlers of both. Everything I had was very good. They've got it figured out. A must visit location.
